EcoPrime Launches 300,000-Ton Annual
Bioenergy Project in Hainan
On February 26, the groundbreaking ceremony for EcoPrime’s 300,000-ton annual bioenergy project was held in Hainan, marking the official launch of the RMB 1.2 billion initiative.
Located in the Yangpu Economic Development Zone, Danzhou City, the facility spans 150 acres (approximately 24.7 hectares) southeast of Yisheng Petrochemical. It will feature state-of-the-art production units for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), biodiesel (HVO), and bio-naphtha, alongside supporting infrastructure for storage, logistics, and utilities.
As a renewable energy source, biofuels significantly reduce carbon emissions compared to traditional fossil fuels, positioning this project as a cornerstone for bridging green economic growth with a low-carbon future. By converting waste oils and fats into high-value products like SAF and HVO, the facility is projected to slash annual CO2 emissions by over 400,000 metric tons while curbing reliance on fossil fuels.
With a total investment of RMB 1.2 billion, the project is slated for completion by June 2026. It will serve as a key node in EcoPrime’s integrated biofuel supply chain, which spans R&D, production, and global distribution. Leveraging Hainan Free Trade Port’s strategic policies and Yangpu Port’s logistical efficiency, the facility aims to meet growing demand for low-carbon fuels in markets such as Europe, Japan, and South Korea, further solidifying EcoPrime’s role as a leader in the global bioenergy sector.
